I am often asked what the difference is between orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons performing spinal surgery. Spine surgery can either be performed by a surgeon with an orthopaedic background or a neurosurgical background. There’s now very little difference at all, if any, between the spine surgery that’s performed by either of them.
As an orthopaedic spinal surgeon this is the only thing that I do. I see patients with spinal conditions and I operate on spinal conditions. I don’t perform any other types of surgery and through this I believe I provide the best chance of you achieving an excellent outcome from surgery or non-surgical treatments that may be required for your spinal condition.
